After so many years in this city, I still think that the best place to be on a sunny day is the The Temple of Heaven. It's not about its monumental buildings which tell a history of imperial grandeur hard to imagine, but it's about the park, its centenary trees, its local visitors who come in flocks every day to perform any kind of activities, from singing to dancing, playing or just wandering in the green.
Cypress trees are everywhere and give solemnity to this already solemn place of imperial devotion. They take any kind of curious shapes:
And if it's easy to go off the beaten path and just enjoy the sight of the trees and the peace of the cypress forest, it's also easy to find spots where the locals gather and sing, performing popular songs, karaoke, dances or just play around, passing their weekends and spare time at leisure
If you are not exactly into a performing mood, you might just as well enjoy the scenes from the sidelines - just beware that while you are watching, you might be watched!:
