Some might raise eyebrows at this post title. But I have never been more serious.
I was reading one of the many articles published by Yahoo Lifestyle. They say the toilet room is one of the main bone of contention between couples, a special place where one relaxes in many ways.
That's how I discovered that November 19th is the World Toilet Day, which is not a World Expo of toilets and related accessories. worldtoiletday.org is the website of this international celebration, aimed at making people around the world more aware of the importance of having or not having good sanitation services.
As per data shared by worldtoiletday.org 1 in 3 people do not have a private, safe and clean toilet, especially in some African and Asian areas. In India, girls tend not to go to school when they have their period, since at school there are no proper facilities to deal with their personal hygiene. And much more.
In a nutshell, absence of proper toilets and sanitation systems are usually a clear indicator of underdevelopment; while building proper toilets is the starting point for more wealth. In a simple equation, they say "shit=gold".
Let's think of it next time we go.
